… it’s about public relations, marketing, retail quirks, government communications and oddities … and written in Canada!
Breaking news from WaPo: companies can build word of mouth by targeting bloggers. Nothing new there, but there is one sentence that seems right out of August 2005:
” … Blogger relations experts have joined public relations and advertising teams. …”
That’ll last a couple more years at the most, folks. Then ALL public relations and marketing specialists will be expected to understand this new channel.

I think you’re absolutely right.
I’m a young person. I think, not tooting my own horn here, that I’m pretty far ahead of most people. But I definitely wouldn’t be looking into blogging relations as a career.
It’s hard to tell sometimes how long blogging itself will keep alive, let alone how long people and companies will be in the dark about it.
Colin,
I agree with your observation with one qualification: all public relations specialist should understand this channel NOW. Opinion leaders from all walks of life have found their way onto blogs. And you cannot develop a truly effective PR strategy today without taking this into account.
I am not too sure about that not happening. with blogger merging with google has opened a whole new arena for publicity, advertisin space, and most importantly awareness. search engines in a few years will throw up information from blogs …
I would definitely keep my watch out for blogger relations. need for transparency and PR, we are going to have a good fight on our hands. A worthy Challenge i suppose!
